In person or virtually, your crafted content as well as your presentation environment tells a story about you, and will affect how the audience receives your message and your brand.

For the virtual environment, you have the advantage of having full control over your presentation space, so make sure you are sending the right message with the choice of your virtual background.
While pretending you're on the beaches of Tahiti sounds lovely, and may get a chuckle from a colleague, as a featured speaker you want to take a different approach. Allowing your virtual audience to see your actual home office/presentation space, and that you took the time opportunity to tidy and organize, will give them a sense of who you are as a professional and that you too are just like them in negotiating the complications of events in a virtual era.
