5 Critical Things You Must Do To Nail Your Virtual Presentation: #2

-TWO-

Dress for The Role

The man in this photo (above) was participating in the 18th Annual No Pants Subway Ride in New York on January 13, 2019; it was 32 degrees that day and according Improve Everywhere, the creators of this annual tradition, it was "lots of fun!" If you have an ounce of a sense of humor, yeah this could be fun, is certainly funny, and if I were in NYC in and around the time of this event, I would playfully snicker at a no-pants-wearing public transportation user. I'd probably keep my pants on though.

Outside of wacky traditions, or friendly jokes with expecting audiences, the business on top, no pants on bottom is not a good look, especially when you're a featured presenter for a professional virtual event. The waste up formats we're becoming used to can easily allow us to be lazy and take half measures when preparing to engage with audiences. If you're the featured speaker, act like it, and dress for the role, as if you were taking the stage and performing live. Tuck that dress shirt into slacks, not your mesh shorts; remove those fluffy pajama bottoms. If you need some inspiration on what to where for that presentation, interview or office meeting, check out these ideas from Cultivated Culture.
